The new Paul Beard Odyssey. Love the looks espeshially the oval sound-hole but does a polished cone improve the treble response? http://www.beardguitars.com/guitarodysseymain.html |

I can't see why a cone would sound significantly different just because it's shiny, but who am I to argue with Paul Beard? He makes a good product so I expect that if he says it then it's true. Aluminium hardens with working so it may be that the act of polishing tempers the metal more than on an unpolished cone. Also he doesn't say if the alloy in the polished cone is any different from his regular cones |

Thanks Pete, that is pretty much how I think, but; I have heard people swear that dust on the cone deadens the trebles..... |

Well, I'd guess it's the same principle as a guitar with too much finish on the top of it: it doesn't resonate as well. I'm just guessing. |
